"It's Not What It Looks Like"
Matthew 17:14-21

To the public, this young boy appeared to have a mental issue, as they witness his thrashing around and after hearing the testimony of his father concerning his previous actions. But Jesus, knowing the heart and the spirit of the boy, knew he was incapacitated by a demon.

The young boy was first brought to the disciples, but to no avail. They could not cast out the demons. When the young boy was brought to Jesus, He cast the demon from the young boy. After, His disciples ask why they could not cast out the demon,
20 "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."
21 "Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting." Matt 17:20-21 (KJV)

We have to understand that everyone that acts out, or act like there is a mental issue, is not. Some are possessed by demon and need the power of the Holy Ghost to rid them of the bondage of Satan. Only God's mercy and grace can help in this time of need. We need only to ask, with sincerity and humility, and He will deliver us from whatever stronghold the enemy has over us.
